Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a stunning example of a German-made private-purchased Ike Jacket belonging to a Lieutenant Colonel of Infantry in the 9th Infantry Division. This is a jacket that could definitely be identified with enough research.
There is a great maker’s tag below the collar for F. Steiner of Babenhausen & Augsburg. There is no name in the jacket we could find. There are US & Infantry collar insignia, and a Presidential Unit Citation ribbon above the right breast pocket. There are great Lieutenant Colonel rank pins on the shoulders, and a nice 9th Infantry Division patch on the left shoulder.
The ribbon bar on the jacket includes the Silver Star Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Purple Heart, the American Defense Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign medal with an invasion arrow, one silver star, and two bronze stars, the WWII Victory Medal, and the Occupation of Germany medal. Above the ribbon bar is a gorgeous Combat Infantryman Badge. The left sleeve bears five overseas stripes indicating over 2½ years of overseas service.
A fantastic jacket worthy of further research and display!
